Easy Christmas Dresses!

I know I'm a day late. But I do hope you had a Blessed Christmas. I have been so busy with work, a dog that had surgery, and a hubby with kidney stones. But I survived all that...only to come down with a  cold and cough.
I did manage to get some sewing done, and made 3 easy Pillowcase dresses.

Chevron Print

Owl and Chevron Print w/ Bow

Rudolph Print

These are great worn alone, or paired with a  turtle neck and tights.

Again, I hope your Christmas was filled with many blessings!!!!

See ya' in the New Year!!

Fat Quarter Fun!

I haven't posted any sewing projects in a while. So today, I'm taking a break from cardmaking and showing you some projects I've been working on. On some of them, I have used Fat Quarters, you know, those yummy squares of fabric that measure 1/4 of a yard!?

I love making these pillowcase dresses, and I love using up almost every inch of fabric. I use 2 fat quarter squares for the top, and some remnant fabric for the bottom. The headband was made out of the pieces I had left from cutting out the arm holes.

This is a Onesie Dress made from another Fat Quarter Square:
I cut the square in half, sewed up the side seams, finished off the bottom, gathered the top, and stitched it onto my Onesie. The center flower was then heat bonded on, and then stitched in place.

And then...I found some MORE scraps, and decided to make
reversible headbands!

Sorry my pictures are "fancy-smancy", but after all this sewing, I'm pooped! LOL

My Dad drives a John Deere!

Yes, my Dad drove a John Deere tractor when I was growing up. And that's how I learned to drive at the ripe age of 12! You see, we all had to help out on the ranch and this was one of my many chores. Even though it was hard work, they are great memories.

I've been trying to get some sewing done this week. I came upon this pretty John Deere fabric that I bought last year. I paired it with some cowprint fabric and yellow polka dotted ribbon and came up with this set:

And here's the matching hair bow:

Sadly, at the time I only bought like half a yard.  I wanted to use every scrap of it, so with a small piece I had left, I made a rosette flower at added it to the center of my bow.

Have a great Tuesday!

It's a Boy!

Good Friday morning!!! I hope you are having a wonderful day! Here in South Texas it's sunny and warm...today's high is in the upper 90's! Yikes! And it's only April! Oh well.......

I wanted to share with you a  Baby Boy gift I have been working on:

When I saw these images over at Whimsie Doodles, I just knew they would go perfectly with this fabric, toy and gift set! I had a difficult time deciding on which to use..the zebra or the giraffe?! I opted for the giraffe because of the Garanimals toy I was using.

I'm using this image and project in the

Box Office Whimsie Doodles Wednesday Challenge
These images remind me of the cute characters in the movie Madagascar!

My gift basket contains  a cute stuffed giraffe toy, a baby size bath towel, a washcloth, a matching onsie, and a bottle of  baby bath wash and baby shampoo!
Project Details: Stuffed Toy-Garanimals, Johnson & Johnson's Baby Bath and Shampoo, Onsie, bath towel and wash cloth all embellished with matching fabrics.

Thanks for visiting today! Have a blessed Friday and a great weekend!!!

Pillowcase Dress, FlipFlops and a Hairbow!

Look at what I did today!! I just love this set!!! I made this pillowcase dress today and then decided it needed a hairbow to match. Then I thought, "hey...why not add some cute flip flops to finish the outfit off?!"

So...here's my 3 piece Ensemble!

The dress!

Matching Flip Flops!

And the Hair Bow!

Isn't this a super fun set!!! I really wish my daughter could have worn something like this at her age. She's 17 now so there is no way I could get into any kind of matching set! LOL

I have listed this set in my etsy shop: Just Us Girlz

and now to get started on another set I have in mind!
Oh the "creative wheels are turning" today! LOL

Hey there Cupcake!

Hope you are having a great Thursday so far! This week I have had lots to do, but it hasn't stopped me from taking my "creative breaks". And believe me...I NEED these breaks!

Here's a dress I stitched up yesterday. I found the fabric at Hobby Lobby. I drew up the cupcake and stitched it on there adding a bright, green button for embellishment.

I also made a cupcake bottlecap necklace to go with it.

Have a wonderful Thursday!!!

Still sewing and bow making!

Whew! Spring break is over! I had hubby home for several days too! We spent most of spring break working around the house. We got lots of painting done! We painted our dining room, our bedroom, and my daughter's room.
So, even though my house is still in disarray, I couldn't wait to get some sewing and bow making done today!

I actually made 10 hair bows and and this set:

Here are some close ups:

The ribbon matches the fabric!

Sewin' up some baby gifts!

Lately, I have been determined to use some of my fabric that I have had in my closet. So instead of purchasing more fabric I went through my stash and made these Fabric Basket Baby Gift sets!

I bought a package of cloth diapers at WalMart and added the same fabric onto those. Then I used the fabric on some store bought wash cloths and onesies!

Thanks for visiting today! Have a wonderful Tuesday!!!

Are you thinking what I'm thinking?

I love to Upcycle, Reinvent, Repurpose,  whatever you want to call it! LOL
The other day I found this super cute children's skirt at the second hand store. I was attracted to it because of 1. The pretty colors of yellow, grey and white and 2. all those awesome ruffles!!!!

So...are you thinking what I'm thinking????

Wouldn't this make a cute handbag??

I can just imagine it with some gray straps ( I even think I've got some in my closet!)
and maybe some rolled flowers sewn on the top corner!!!

Guess I should get busy, huh?

Or...should I just leave it as be? I'm not even sure what size it is! The tag only says 65CM.
I better get to sewing!
Have a blessed Wednesday!!!

Upcycled? Reinvented? Reborn?

I'm not exactly sure how to describe what I do with these outfits, but hopefully it will come to me soon!

You see yesterday, on Valentine's Day, I was home alone. Don't get me wrong, I love my hubby and kids, but after having my hubby home for 9 days (vacation days for him), I was ready for some "ME" time!

We celebrated Vday on Saturday night, so I didn't feel deprived at all. And lastnight I made him a really good Rib-eye steak dinner so he didn't feel deprived either! We had a wonderful night!!!

Anyway...during the day I was feeling creative and made these two outfits. Well, "semi-homemade" as Sandra Dee would say!LOL

I love shopping 2nd hand stores for good, quality denim, or super cute tops. And then I embellish the denim to create "one of a kind" outfits!

Like these!!!
I call this one the Cute Cupcake set! I found this adorable dress, but now it's a top. I paired it with some super cute jeans that have pink stitching. I made them capris, appliqued a handmade cupcake on the leg, and then embellished it with a button. The bows are removable for washing.
And then this one:

I found this cute size 4T denim skirt and appliqued a handmade Owl on it. I bought a tshirt at WalMart and ruffled some ribbon, and added buttons to it. Then I added more ribbon to use as a belt on the skirt.

So...this is what I did on  my Valentine's Day!!! Pretty productive day if I say so myself! LOL

I've been busy Sewing!!

Besides cardmaking, scrapbooking and crafting......sewing is one of my favorite hobbies!!!
I've been really busy these past few days trying to stitch up some stuff for my
 Etsy Shop:Just Us Girlz
This set started with these swim trunks.. They are by Gymboree and  OH SO sweet!!!
So then I made up this shirt to go with them:

and got this outfit:

Another outfit I made using a pattern from Brassy Apple. I love her blog and her creations.
I couldn't wait to find some jeans from the second hand store, so I used some Old Navy overalls that I had in my stash. I cut them to "capri" length and got my scraps together and made this set.

And my last project is this set.
It all started with The Pleated Poppy. I read a post that featured her ruffled, zippered pouches and it made me wanna make my own.

But I couldn't stop here....NOOOO...I had to make a tote bag to match!!!

it was missing something when I stitched it up, so I searched my vintage stash and found this earring...
made a flower and stuck it in the middle.

Whew!!! I need a lunch break!LOL I've got other projects in progress...I just need more hours in my day to complete them!!
Thanks for visiting, have a blessed Wednesday!!!
